Café 52

Chair

A simple start — but a necessary one. The most drawn, the most iconic object; ordinary, yet essential. For us, becoming designers meant first confronting it : our own idea of a chair.

Born from a brainstorming session at a Parisian café, this chair is the result of encounters, misunderstandings, and shared intuition. Handmade in Paris from 100% French beechwood, it balances formal rigor with a touch of surprise.

The four legs, shaped as parallel wooden slabs, the curve seat, break with tradition and invite multiple interpretations: some see a torii, the Japanese ritual gate; others, a sella curulis, symbol of authority in ancient Rome. The backrest sits precisely where you want it. The body finds its place, naturally.

It is our first step — a simple gesture, rich with meaning. An invitation to sit, observe, and perhaps, begin a conversation.
